UBean Update

First of all, we are still open. I honestly wasn't sure we would be. We contacted another coffee roaster, Oggie, here in UB to see if she could sell us some green beans. She was the most likely to help us as her company has been a friend to UBean and has wanted to partner with us in the past. She said they couldn't because the State Inspection dept showed up, took samples of their beans and sealed their bags so they could not roast. They could not sell because they did not want to get fined like we were.
We talked for awhile and compared notes. She believes this will start happening to other companies in town, if it hasn't already. She also believes this is ridiculous and thinks they just want a bribe. She wants to form a coalition to stand up to the government. One other roasting company and the Barista Association of Mongolia has joined. They want us to join.
While I hate to see this happen to another company, this is good for us. We aren't being singled out and these other companies are bigger and have more money to fight this. It's a problem for us because they cannot sell to us. Also, this is not a decision I can make myself. I have to take this to our board and do as they say. Pray for discernment for us in stepping forward in this action or standing down.
Update on the update. Ooggie has not got her results yet, but can sell us a bag of 70k Colombia and 65k Brazil. It will cost about $1,700 USD. This will keep us open a little bit longer. We cannot rely on someone else to import for us if they are checking everybody’s beans. We might as well do it ourselves and take the risk. Pray that God gives me discernment on how to step forward. If God s closing UBean, please make it clear to me.
Lastly, Saturday is our “company picnic”. I will be sharing the Word with everyone. Please pray that I am obedient and respond with God's words and not mine.
