The Visa run!
Wednesday Chas rents a car to drive to DC. We FB crowd sourced and a friend secured a room at a relative's house who live 20 minutes from the Mongolian Embassy. Wednesday night we hear from our people in Mongolia that the code has not gone through and Chas will have to hang out. Also, our friend's aunt gives Chas her rail pass to use to get to the embassy. With traffic it will take over an hour and parking costs $25-30! The rail drops him off 1/2 mile from the embassy and there's still money left over on the card.
Thursday morning Chas takes all our papers and passports and went to the embassy anyway. He chats with the reception guy there. Reception guy checks the email, no code, but leave your papers and your number with me and when it comes I'll call you and get started on the paperwork for you. (!)
The Reception guy also tells Chas about a true Mongolian restaurant right down the street. My man gets to have buudz and he is so excited! He spends the day walking around DC, monuments, museums, the White House, and just talking with God throughout! I'm so excited for him to have this sweet gift from Dad!
Thursday afternoon Chas is told it could take 2-5 days, but I remind him that he's coming home on Friday. He's skeptical. My sister calls and asks if it's okay for her and her husband to come to Muncie for a couple nights this weekend. I'm blown away and appreciate God's hand in this. Of course, come down!!
Someone tells us they want to give us a sizable donation and how do we want it cash or check, Envision or our pocket? What an amazing abundance of provision! Also, my youngest brother tells me to expect a fedex pkg on Friday night that he has specially made for me and has been working on for 3 years.
Thursday night (while I'm at prayer) we get word that the approval has been given! Chas says it will still take until Monday. I say, you're coming home tomorrow.
I talk to Chas that night and he says he feels guilty because he's having a mini-vacation while I'm stuck here with all the packing and closing the apartment stuff to do still. I'm so giddy for him to have this pocket of sweetness and I tell him please don't feel guilty! Enjoy what God is giving you.
Friday morning Chas drives in, calls on the way and is told it won't be ready until Monday. He calls me and I know God is able and sovereign, he is doing this! I send out prayer requests, and rally the warriors! Within 45 minutes Chas is told it will be expedited and he can pick up the passports at 4pm! He was home by midnight!
Also, in the midst of all this, my oldest son and his wife find out that Chas has to leave behind his unique robe which was a gift from one of our Saudi sons. It weighs between 6-10 lbs and we can't bring it on the plane. They offer to ship it even after finding out what it will cost. After they send the money I realize that for half of what they sent we could buy a 5th piece of 50# luggage AND if they are okay with it, we could upgrade our seats for leg room! In amazing sweet generosity they tell us to go for it! So we brought his heavy robe and sat in the extra wide exit row on our 13.5 hr flight.
The confirmations have continued throughout this process and I am grateful!
Jean
