Election Day

6/23/17
When presidential elections come along, the only thing I have to look out for are an over-saturation of ads, screaming liberals and jerk-hole conservatives. This Monday is the presidential election in Mongolia. Some places are closed, like UBean, so people can vote. Some places change up their schedule so that their employees can vote.
Suvdaa, UBean's accountant told me we should stay in our apartment on Monday. We should not go out to eat, see a movie or even go to the store. It might be dangerous. I should especially avoid the Square. Mashka, UBean's manager confirmed what Suvdaa said, but also said I should not go to language school all week. Coming to UBean should be fine, but we should not be out next week.
Last time elections were held, there was violence. 5 people were killed, hundreds injured and a four day state-of-emergency was declared. I would be lying if I said this doesn't enticed me to go out even more. However, Jean wanted to cancel classes next week and I will. We will stock up on food and binge watch Blacklist on Monday.
Maybe I'll sneak out after dark.

One of the team who left shortly after our last trip here was alone in the city when it happened. It was a terrifying experience for her. Our team here also warned us about seriously staying in. They won't be here to help us. We have our Mongolian friends, but there is no other C&MA on the ground. I'm praying God overwhelms Chaz' adventurous streak with wisdom. I know he jokes about it, but this is a serious concern for me. Prayers are appreciated.

No violence, although we did see military personnel in formation receiving instructions.
Chaz didn't dangerously go outside. He took advantage of the closed business day and cleaned the big windows at UBean.

Yes, the risk is a riled up Mongolian taking frustration out on the foreigner. There is also the chance we might be mistaken for rich mining community members.
