Field Forum 2017
from August 29, 2017
So we went to our first Field Forum. I understand completely why Mandal has been the choice the past few years. It is incredible! The view, the quiet (until the weekend), and the options. There is a horse riding camp next door, a stream half a mile away, the mountains all the way around, and excellent accommodations. I'm so grateful God made a way for us to attend this year.
Deeper though was the time afforded us in the schedule to step back, take a breath, and renew our energies. After our first few months here we really needed it. I remembered how much I love the silence of the countryside. Quiet is hearing the horses huffing in the woods across the river as you sit high up on the mountain. I want to go back with just Chaz for a few days vacay. It would be a nice getaway for us.
I found a treasure trove of rhubarb growing wild there too! After determining I couldn't uproot it, I settled for harvesting dozens of stalks. The sour cream rhubarb coffeecake that I made from it was delicious! I also brought seeds back, but it takes years of growth before there's a harvest. We'll see if I get to harvest from my own rhubarb, eh?
Thanks for praying for us! We can feel it. I can't imagine what this time would have been like without your covering and our Father's faithful grace.
I'd love to hear your recent experiences of rest and refreshment. I hope you'll share and make this more interactive rather than spectator :)
Love,
Jean
