DMV: Mongolia (part 2)

And then...
he was set to go take his actual driving test on Friday afternoon. Monkhush had told him it was Friday, but Chaz hadn't asked what time or where. So Friday he goes to Monkhush to get the information, of course he knows nothing. chaz calls Mashka (the manager who usually handles these things, but is on vacation this week) She sends the number to Monkhush who was reluctant to handle any of it and forwards the number to Suvdaa (the UBean Mongolian accountant). Suvdaa calls and tells Chaz his drivers license is ready. They need to go at 5pm and bring 50,000 tuug. They go to the driver training school, find the guy and go into his office. The guy makes a call then pulls out a box of drivers licenses, like he's a forger (Chaz's impression). He goes through that and doesn't see his. He goes to another box and flips through then pulls out Chaz' Indiana license and the Mongolian one, they pay the fee and Chaz asks Suvdaa about a receipt, she acts like she won't talk about it and they leave.
On the way out, Chaz asks Suvdaa why she didn't get a receipt. She says he was charged less than they are allowed to charge so they can't give a receipt.
So here's what you need to understand. We budgeted $150 just for the Driver License with the understanding it could be a lot more. Also, we were told he'd probably have to take a month of lessons - someone else was told they had to do that. I can't tell you how many people recommended we bribe for his license. People with connections offered to manage the transaction for us. He refused to take that step on an ethical basis. Finally, others who've gotten licenses recently have only been given short term licenses. Chaz' license cost us 10,000 tuug for the "health screening" and 50,000 tuug for the actual license, that comes to $25 USD. And his license is good until December 2018!
That's my Jesus! He's been moving to encourage, provide, and confirm us over and over this week. I am so grateful for his faithfulness even in the face of my doubts.
Jean
