The Great Commission: Matthew 28:16-20 The last command Jesus made to his disciples. Pretty important. This command was obviously not just for the twelve. There is no way they could have reached all nations. Though they did a pretty good job. We are all disciples and this command is ours to follow. This is why I am in Mongolia.

So what have I done? My time here has been more about God meeting me, ministering to me, correcting me than making disciples and baptizing. I know, don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re only there for two months, you don’t know the language, etc. But I recognize that I am fearful. Fearful of confrontation, uncertainty, work. I’d rather sit in the protection of my tower. Oswald Chambers would refer to me as a spiritual sluggard. More interested in living a remote, retired, secluded life than wanting to come up against the injustice, meanness, ingratitude and turmoil of life. Jesus did not encourage the idea of spiritual retirement. I am meant to be stirred up. What better place to be stirred than Mongolia.

Yet God qualifies the man. God makes it happen, not me. From the children on the street who smile, wave and say “hi!”,  to the young fella asking me to help him with his english homework and to the international workers who have all shown great appreciation toward us being here, even if we are not directly helping them. I have been blessed to be a blessing. I haven’t needed to charge and take the hill; I just needed to be present.
